Overview

The Turks and Caicos Islands sit atop the Turks Island Passage — a 2,200-metre-deep channel that separates the Turks Bank from the Caicos Bank. This geography creates the dramatic wall diving for which the islands are famous, with vertical drop-offs beginning in just 6–10 metres of water.

Providenciales (Provo) is the main hub, offering easy access to the Northwest Point Marine National Park and the Grace Bay wall system. Grand Turk, the capital island, is smaller and quieter, with a legendary wall that begins just 180 metres from the beach.

Salt Cay, a tiny island with a handful of dive operators, offers some of the most pristine and uncrowded diving in the Caribbean. Humpback whales pass through the Turks Island Passage from January to April, making this one of the few places in the world to dive with these giants.

Dive Safety Reminder

Currents in the Turks Island Passage can be powerful and unpredictable. Always dive with a local operator who monitors conditions. During humpback whale season, maintain a respectful distance and follow operator guidelines for in-water encounters.
