Belize is home to the second-largest barrier reef in the world — the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stretching 300 kilometres along the coast, it protects a labyrinth of lagoons, cayes, and atolls that offer some of the most diverse diving in the Western Hemisphere.
The Great Blue Hole, a 300-metre-wide, 125-metre-deep marine sinkhole located at the centre of Lighthouse Reef Atoll, is Belize's most iconic dive. Made famous by Jacques Cousteau in 1971, it remains one of the world's great bucket-list dives — stalactites, sharks, and an eerie blue void.
Beyond the Blue Hole, Belize offers three offshore atolls (Lighthouse Reef, Turneffe Atoll, and Glover's Reef), each with distinct character. Turneffe is the largest and most biodiverse; Glover's Reef is the most remote and pristine. The barrier reef itself offers hundreds of sites from beginner-friendly shallows to dramatic walls.
The world's most famous dive site. Descend through the thermocline into a cathedral of stalactites formed 10,000 years ago. Caribbean reef sharks and bull sharks patrol the depths.
Adjacent to the Blue Hole, this wall dive is often considered the better dive. Pristine coral, exceptional visibility, and a dramatic drop-off teeming with life.
The southern tip of Turneffe Atoll where currents converge, creating a feeding frenzy of fish. One of the best shark dives in Belize with regular reef and nurse shark sightings.
Remote, pristine wall diving at Belize's most isolated atoll. The coral here is among the healthiest in the Caribbean, with minimal diver impact.
A shallow sandbar near Caye Caulker where nurse sharks and southern stingrays congregate. Originally a fish cleaning station, it's now one of Belize's most popular snorkel/dive sites.
A shallow patch reef system near San Pedro, perfect for beginners and snorkelers. Excellent coral coverage, abundant reef fish, and regular turtle sightings.
